Day 36. The dogs’ high pitched, continuous yelp told, informed, that something–an opossum, a red, gray or black squirrel, an eastern rabbit, a ring-tailed raccoon, a red fox, or white-tailed deer–had appeared in the dusk. Both dogs stood on two legs at the sitting room windows, then they scrambled to the backdoor, paws slipping, sliding, across the kitchen floor. At the door, Elvis whined, yelped, spun circles, and scratched to get out while Mikah leapt four feet straight up, over and over, all paws in the air.
